What’s the point of this image? Showing that the gremlin has more storage with approximately the same footprint?

While the Gremlin is larger, it’s made to look even larger by having the Beetle in the background, perspective distortion makes it look even smaller.
If given the choice I’d take the Beetle though, it’s basically a Porsche.

The Gremlin was the same overall length as the Beetle and in the same price range, but was a much more modern and comfortable car by the standards of the early ‘70s. AMC ran a bunch of those ads trying to show how much more you got for your money with a Gremlin vs. a Beetle.
